The Friends of Jordan Society (FOJ) – Our Story
When a group of friends became aware of the plight of underprivileged families that affected the wellbeing of women and children in Jordan, they decided to do something about it. They started by raising funds for Al-Amal Cancer Center.
Then, through the inititiative of "Sherifa" Nur Nasser, empowered by teamwork, faith and the belief that citizens can work for the welfare of others, the Friends of Jordan Society came into being in April 2000 with a current membership of 52 women.
After a number of successful pilot projects implemented around Jordan, the Society decided to focus its attention on one of the poverty pockets of southern Jordan: Ghor Fefa in Ghore Safi south of the Dead Sea. The society established a kindergarten, public library, a health center and houses for the needy in Ghor Fefa.
The social development work of the FOJ is made possible through the generosity of our donors on one hand, and the care and collaboration of the local community we feel privileged to serve.
